Last weekend Glenn and I went to the world’s largest military airshow- the Fairford Air Tattoo.
My father used to fly chinooks (see above) in Vietnam, and got his pilots licence when he was 16, so suffice it to say I saw my fair share of air shows/aeronautical displays growing up. G, on the other hand, had never been to an airshow before- so it was a fun day!
My favorite part of the day was watching the Red Arrows- they are the RAF elite aerobatic team (the british version of the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels). They put on a great show.
The downside: it was kinda cold. and raining. Oh England.
But we still had a really great time.
Another favorite part thing about the day: primo people watching. Or shooting. Well, camera shooting, or photo capturing or whatever you wanna call it.
Here’s the thing about that though: I love taking photos of people, but I always feel a little strange taking shots of people that I not only don’t know but also who don’t know that they are getting photographed. Where exactly is the line there, anyway? My current method is to stand really far away, use a zoom lens, and pretend that there is something reeeeeally interesting just behind their left shoulder.
(isn’t he handsome?)
