The Emerald Isle, Day 5

We toured the rest of Dublin on our fifth day in Ireland.

This is Trinity College.  It is Ireland’s premier university and one of the top 100 schools in the world.

We toured on graduation day.

The Christmas decorations were already set up in Dublin!

After a fun day of walking around the city we took a tour of the Jameson Whisky Distillery.  I’ve been asked which tour is better: Guinness or Jameson.  My answer?  No answer.  I really enjoyed both tours, though both were very different from the other.  Guinness is HUGE.  And the history is pretty astounding (I mean, they were at the Battle of Waterloo- who can beat that?).  But Jameson was really interesting and more personal.  AND, if you are one of 8 volunteers, like myself and my brother, you get free tastings of 3 types of whiskies (more on that later).  If you only have time for one I’d recommend doing Guinness, but only because it is so famous.  If you have time for both though, then DO IT! :)

Our tour guide was great.

My brother and I were part of the 8 volunteers chosen to try 3 whiskies.  The first was Johnny Walker- Scotland’s top whisky.  The second was Jack Daniels- the USA’s top whisky. The third was, obviously, Jameson.  They taught us the proper way to drink them and asked which was our favorite.  8 out of 8 picked Jameson.

But maybe some were just brown nosing.
