Merry and Bright

For Christmas this year the little man and I headed out to New Mexico to spend Christmas with G’s family.  Glenn, unfortunately, had to work, so he didn’t arrive until right before New Years.

He was able to join us, in a way, through the joy of the internet.  It wasn’t an ideal situation but I am really thankful Apple products and FaceTime and all technology that went into making our distance feel just a little bit closer.

Here are a few highlights from the trip:

1. We got to spend a lot of quality time together as a family.

Living so far away from all your family can be hard, but it really does make you treasure the brief time that you get to spend together.  I don’t think that there was a single moment that Devon wasn’t being loved on while we were there.  It was great.

2. It snowed!

It was the little man’s first time experiencing the white stuff so we bundled him up, put him in it, and set him free.  The kid snowplowed himself all over the place.  It was a hit!

The snow was also a hit with Zeke.  He went a little nuts running around outside.

3.  Ladies Tea

One afternoon the women wen tout and had afternoon tea.  We wore fun hats and drank about a gallon of tea each.  It was fabulous.

4. We had some great outings.

Albuquerque is a pretty fun town to get out in.  They have a great zoo, and it’s pretty dead in the winter so we kinda had the run of the place, which is always fun. I also received an unexpected smooch while we were there- but that’s been told about in a different post!

Another really interesting experience that we had was attending a Native American Buffalo dance.  It was an amazing day- we were some of the only “gringos" allowed to attend and I was truly blown away by the generosity and sense of community that we felt while at the pueblo.

5. We relaxed.

G’s job is always so busy, and it was nice being able to turn the work cell off for a few days and be able to to just enjoy being on a vacation. It was wonderful.
